Peak Oil

Peak oil is the expected point in time when the maximum rate of crude oil extraction has been achieved. Due to the non-renewable nature of crude oil, the rate of extraction will begin to decline after this point in time and will never reach this peak again.

The effect on climate caused by the warming of the planet. Over the past century, the planet has warmed by 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit due to an increasing presence of green house gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere, compounds such as carbon dioxide and methane that trap heat.
