Gerrymandering: How to Recognize and Resist It
May 4, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree
Gerrymandering, the partisan manipulation of electoral districts for political gain, results in gridlock and dysfunction. It denies power to the minority voting blocks. It is effectively voter suppression. The outcomes of elections are just about guaranteed resulting in very poor governance. Members of all parties should be concerned and this is why the League of Women Voters is cosponsoring a town hall presentation called “Gerrymandering: How to Recognize and Resist It”.
This panel discussion is to inform the public about the need for redistricting reform. Presenters will include Dr. John Kincaid, Moderator; Carol Kunihom, Fair Districts PA; PA Senator Lisa Boscola; PA Representative Steve Samuelson. There will be time for audience questions.
The event is free and open to the public.
Co-sponsored by Lafayette College Center for Community Engagement, Government & Law Department, and Meyner Center for the Study of State and Local Government.
