COVID and Climate Change: Lessons and Liability for the Future
April 25 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, we do so during an unprecedented pandemic that has shown a light on the lessons and liabilities of the other existential crisis we are facing- Climate Change.
As Michael Mann, Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science at Pennsylvania State University, said in a recent article, “Watching the COVID-19 outbreak unfold is like watching a time lapse of the climate change crisis. As with climate change, our response to COVID-19 requires intellectual humility. We must take the warnings and recommendations of science seriously; in both cases lives depend upon informed responses. In both cases, disinformation and doomism go hand in hand. What we do now necessarily will mitigate or exacerbate both crises.”
Join me as host of an exciting panel of Community Leaders, Scholars and Environmental Activists, to discuss how we can mitigate and prepare for Climate Change with lessons learned from the COVID-19 Response.
This is a free event to engage and educate the community on issues of Climate Change. Participants can RSVP here and join via Zoom.
